No net loss and net positive impact approaches to biodiversity

Complete Title:
No net loss and net positive impact approaches to biodiversity : exploring the potential application of these approaches in the commercial agriculture and forestry sectors
IUCN Publication
Abstract:

Leading companies in the primary natural resource sectors are setting more targeted and measureable enviornmental goals, which in regards to biodiversity-related risks, are increasingly framed as "No Net Loss" (NNL) or "Net Positive Impact" (NPI) goals. To date however, much of the experience in implementing approaches with explicit NPI goals for biodiversity has been in the extractives and infrastructure sectors. The objectives of this report are to learn from the NNL/NPI experience of these sectors and explore the potential for applying these approaches in the agriculture and forestry sectors.
