This volume provides the most comprehensive review available on the conservation status of lemurs. All lemurs of Madagascar are described and for each species a detailed account is provided with information on distribution, population status, habitat, ecology, threats and conservation action, as well as a summary of captive breeding efforts and a bibliography. Virtually all species are shown in black and white photographs and a distribution map is given for each species. An introduction provides an overview of conservation in Madagascar plus a list of protected areas and their lemur fauna.
