The 1st Asia Bonn Challenge High-Level Roundtable was held on the 9th and 10th of May 2017 in Palembang, South Sumatra. The event was organised by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia and the Provincial Government of South Sumatra, with the support of IUCN. The 1st Asia Roundtable sought to raise the ambition for FLR in the region, as a key approach for enhancing the wellbeing of both people and nature.

The Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions cooperate to protect human health and the environment from the negative effects of hazardous pollutants. This Environment and Gender Information (EGI) platform analysis explores how women are represented as delegates to the Conferences of the Parties (COPs), members and observers of Conventions’ Subsidiary Bodies, and national focal points.

Despite increasing recognition of the importance of ecosystem-based approaches for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, implementation remains mostly underdeveloped worldwide. Lack of knowledge on the implementation process present an important barrier.

En el presente documento se busca rescatar el aporte que las comunidades locales y los pueblos indígenas con sus saberes hacia la conservación y manejo de sus recursos naturales y a las diferentes modalidades de conservación adoptados.

Este volume defende que uma governança apropriada ao contexto e simultaneamente “boa” é essencial para a conservação efetiva e equitativa. Isso se aplica a todos os tipos de áreas protegidas e também a outras áreas conservadas, seja em ambientes terrestres, costeiros, marinhos ou de águas continentais. O foco nas questões relacionadas à governança requer esforço por parte de formuladores de políticas públicas, gestores, titulares de direitos e demais partes interessadas.

Although focused on aiding managers, these Guidelines are for anyone involved in supporting LSMPAs or the communities that hold an interest in them. It is hoped these Guidelines will also assist new LSMPAs from the earliest design phase, and enhance the management of existing LSMPAs from planning and implementation through ongoing evaluation.

In recent years, awareness has risen surrounding the crucial role of plants in providing ecosystem services and on their decline – they are one of the essential foundations of healthy ecosystems that we depend on. However, significant gaps in knowledge still remain. In this context, the European Red List of lycopods and ferns provides the first ever comprehensive assessment of the extinction risk of all native lycopod and fern species to Europe.
