This publication provides an in-depth review of the status of implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and of specific strategies and plans as part of CBD-determined National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAP) at national levels.
This workbook was produced in order to test and adapt the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) methodologies for use at marine protected areas (MPAs) in the Western Indian Ocean. The workbook is designed to allow for a dynamic process of MPA management based on the lessons learnt from pilot assessments in Kenya, Tanzania and the Seychelles.
This report provides results of testing the Workbook for Assessing Management Effectiveness of Marine Protected Areas in the Western Indian Ocean at eight pilot sites in three countries. The assessment looks at not only the impacts but also the effectiveness of the management process. It does not require the collection of new data, unless that can be done quickly but provides a "snap-shot" of management effectiveness at a particular point in time, with recommendations for improvement.
Community Environmental Action Planning (CEAP) is a stripped-down and simple participatory approach that has been used successfully over several years, and in a variety of forms, to introduce a greater degree of participation into environmental planning.
This paper outlines the progress of the East Asian region towards the goals adopted in the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) Programme of Work on Protected Areas (PoWPA) and in the implementation of the Regional Action Plan for the Protected Areas of East Asia (RAP); findings of which arose from the East Asia workshop on implementation of the CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas (CBD PoWPA), the East Asia workshop.
Le projet MEDITERRANE-ON: Définition d'indicateurs de durabilité dans l'aquaculture méditerranéenne a pour but de concevoir des outils, sous la forme d'indicateurs, qui permettent de diagnostiquer l'état de l'aquaculture dans la région, en tenant compte de la perspective d'aligner les différents pays qui l'intègrent vers un développement de leurs secteurs aquacoles si possible plus durable.
