In 2002, a detailed situation analysis of water and environmental issues was done for the Pangani Basin. Following that, a series of pilot projects funded by the Water and Nature Initiative (WANI) of IUCN and by DFID led to the development of a Pangani River Basin Management Project (PRBMP) that continued until 2011. In the final phase of the project, climate change was investigated further.

This report describes a rapid assessment of Important Plant Areas in the south and east Mediterranean; a project designed to provide the ‘wild plant perspective’ for the regional investment strategy of the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund. The project partnership of IUCN, Plantlife International and WWF with botanical teams from Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, Syria and Albania, was supported by the French Development Agency.

An independent scientific review panel was formed under the auspices of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Survival Commission (SSC) to review the results of research on belugas (Delphinapterus leucas), or white whales, in the Sakhalin–Amur region of eastern Russia and to assess the sustainability of recent live-capture removals.

This Handbook presents many of the key outputs, recommendations and accumulated expertise from the project “Support for Agri-environment Policies and Programming in Serbia” that was undertaken between 2008 and 2010. It is produced in both Serbian and English and is intended to serve as a reference document to support the future programming of agri-environment measures in Serbia.

Ecosystem valuation is a complex topic with extensive jargon and rapidly evolving techniques. Although a multitude of related guidelines already exist, none cater directly for the needs of business. As companies start to show an interest in CEV, it is therefore essential to provide an approach that they can follow and rely upon, that is accepted by planners and decisionmakers, and which has been developed through a process of close collaboration with businesses themselves.

This book aims to help people manage coral reefs and other coastal ecosystems; especially to solve problems that flow from nearby catchment (watershed) areas.
