A strategy for Antarctic conservation

This publication, prepared in cooperation with the oil industry's Exploration Production Forum, sets out the oil exploration process, describes the potential environmental consequences of exploration and recommends measures for the prevention or minimization of adverse impacts. The material is based on the experience of IUCN's Environmental Assessment Service.
A combination of violence and drought has had a pervasive and highly damaging effect on the societies and production systems of this region. Featuring an impressive array of figures, maps and other data, the book also provides a valuable perspective by placing local influences and forces in a global context.
This is the first insect Action Plan prepared by the IUCN Species Survival Commission, and was chosen because swallowtail butterflies are perhaps the most charismatic to non-entomologists. Some are the largest butterflies which exist, and the birdwings in particular have long excited wonder and comment among naturalists of all persuasions.
