Case studies

These guidelines address one of the most critical issues which protected area planners and managers face in the East Asia region: obtaining the funds needed to ensure the survival and success of protected areas. The publication explains how protected areas can generate more finance to help meet their needs, and contains brief case studies. It also includes a list of potential funding sources in the region.

El desarrollo de la EIA se ha enfocado principalmente a la etapa de análisis ambiental de los proyectos previa a la obtención del permiso ambiental, dejando a la etapa de seguimiento con un menor grado de desarrollo. Por este motivo, el Proyecto EIA-Centroamérica impulsó el análisis de la etapa del seguimiento ambiental en tres estudios de caso de Estudios de Impacto Ambiental de Panamá, Costa Rica y El Salvador.

Esta publicación tiene por objeto ayudar a los funcionarios de gobierno a fortalecer su capacidad de negociación y promover la cooperación entre actores estatales en el ámbito de los recursos hídricos compartarget_idos. Pretende asimismo servir como herramienta para crear conciencia y desarrollar la capacidad de la sociedad civil a nivel nacional y local.

The objectives of the first edition of the Pangani situation analysis included identifying the resources that occupy the Pangani River Basin (PRB) and the processes and events that affect them, and identifying a series of broad action areas wherein interventions may feasibly be delivered. A second edition was needed to take into account the operation of the Water Resource Management Act in July 2009.

En Afrique de l'Ouest, les Aires Protégées sont rarement gérées selon des principes prenant pleinement en compte l'équité entre les hommes et les femmes. All people, regardless of where they live, depend upon the existence of healthy marine ecosystems. While the role that Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) can play in promoting the health of the oceans and seas has been widely acknowledged, progress on building a network of MPAs has been slow to date. This can be in part explained by the fact that MPAs involve a host of issues that go much further than conservation alone.
