Food security

This report explores the economic impact of climate change in Zambia through the assessment of six sectors, agriculture & food security, natural resources, water, energy, health, and infrastructure. The analysis is conducted via scenario planning. 

Bangladesh has some social safety net programs that transfer food to the poor, some that transfer cash, and some that provide a combination of both. This study evaluates the relative impacts of food and cash transfers on food security and livelihood outcomes among the ultra poor in Bangladesh.

The interdisciplinary situation analysis (ISA) presented in this document is the first of its kind and pilots various analyses of secondary data that may be drawn upon to inform the second phase of the landscape assessment, which involves primary data collection. This is the first analysis of its kind and has been performed with PiN methodological development in mind, thus its format will likely see changes as progress is made on different PiN pilot site studies.

In this discussion paper, we undertook an analysis guided by three questions relevant to food and nutritional security for the project site of Sixaola on the Costa Rica – Panama border.

The objective of this background paper is to report on qualitative social sciences frameworks, and mixed methodologies, that could be incorporated into the HDNF assessment tool.

The case studies from Brazil, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, the Philippines and Viet Nam highlight how forest landscape restoration (FLR) interventions enhance food security. They illustrate the ‘win-win’ solutions that can enhance land functionality and productivity, develop resilient food systems and explore the long-term potential outputs and enabling conditions for FLR interventions.

This document provides background information on the interrelationship between climate change and food security, and ways to deal with the new threat. It also shows the opportunities for the agriculture sector to adapt, as well as describing how it can contribute to mitigating the climate challenge.
