A guide to investing in landscape restoration to sustain agrifood supply chains

This guide provides information and reasoning as to why it is important for agribusinesses to engage in nature-positive business practices, and why landscape restoration is an effective solution to issues related to degradation of landscapes and natural capital on which agribusinesses depend. The aim of this guide is not to provide a comprehensive methodological overview, but to outline key steps to consider for developing a business case for restoration in supply chains, and why this matters.

Healthy people and wildlife through nature protection

Protected and conserved areas (PCAs) are affected by disease risks and impacts in wide-ranging ways, as demonstrated by recent epidemics and the global COVID-19  pandemic. Their potential role in disease prevention, detection, response, and recovery is significant, both to reduce spillover risks and to effectively prepare for disease events. This report provides an orientation for PCA managers on relevant sources of risk, with actions that can be taken to build up systems to manage disease threats across the variety of PCA contexts.

Towards a circular economy that begins and ends in nature

The circular economy is a positive step forward to help achieve our environmental targets. When implemented with nature in mind, it can present an important opportunity for nature and biodiversity. As outlined by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030 we will need to transform our production and consumption systems. This is precisely what the circular economy aims to address.
