Cette étude met l'accent sur le potentiel actuel et futur de l'élevage pour réaliser une gestion durable et des résultats de l'économie verte provenant des parcours du monde. Elle synthétise les données existantes et utilise des exemples pratiques du pastoralisme en Europe, en Amérique latine, en Amérique du Nord, en Asie centrale, occidentale et Australe, en Australie et dans toute l'Afrique pour démontrer les caractéristiques inhérentes au système pour une durabilité adaptative et quelques-unes des possibilités et défis clés pour la promotion du développement dans les parcours.

Many Parties to the CBD underutilise tourism as a means to contribute towards the financial sustainability of protected areas. The development of the present guidelines on tourism partnerships and concessions for protected areas is a response to this under-utilized potential and to recent decisions of the CBD on tourism.

Protecting natural areas and ecosystems is not anti-development. This report shows that by conserving large areas of habitat, natural World Heritage sites also increase resilience to natural and weather-related disasters, support livelihoods for communities, and provide communities with vital protection against the impacts of climate change.

This book includes the decisions and full report of COP2, the text of the first Protocol adopted under the Carpathian Convention, the Protocol on Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological and Landscape Diversity, the Ministerial Declaration of COP2 in Bucharest, and the reports of many other meetings held in the framework of the Carpathian Convention. 

The Draft International Covenant on Environment is an ongoing contribution of the International Council of Environmental Law (ICEL) and the IUCN Environmental Law Programme (IUCN ELP)  to provide a framework for implementing sustainability at all levels of society following the outcome of the Rio+20 Conference, and subsequent adoption of the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
