Sustainable development

This publication, produced in the context of the Regional Programme for West African Marine and Coastal Conservation (PRCM), is a successor to a 2005 volume entitled "Environmental management of offshore oil exploitation and maritime oil transport." The book helped us to better understand the environmental and socio-economic issues and options created by the emerging offshore oil and gas industry.

Le Rapport préliminaire sur l'état de l'environnement en Afrique Centrale fait une description des ressources naturelles encore existantes, identifie les opportunités d'utilisation de celles-ci en vue de la lutte contre la pauvreté et le développement durable. En prenant en compte les principaux défis qui sont associés à la réalisation de ces opportunités, il définit des politiques et des mécanismes permettant de les capitaliser.

Ofrece una lectura analítica sobre la evolución de las ideas y las percepciones respecto de la gestión de áreas protegidas en América Latina, durante la década 1997-2007 y tiene como referencia el Congreso Latinoamericano de Parques Nacionales en sus dos primeras versiones (Santa Marta, Colombia, 1997 y Bariloche, Argentina, 2007).

Recognizing the importance of promoting global efforts underway for sustainable development of the oceans, the Göteborg Award Selection Jury is pleased to distribute a special volume, Sustainable Development of the World’s Large Marine Ecosystems during Climate Change on the occasion of the presentation of the 2010 Göteborg Award.

The Draft Covenant is a blueprint for an international framework (or umbrella) agreement consolidating and developing existing legal principles related to environment and development. Since the publication of the second edition in 2000, there have been important developments in the field of international environmental law.

This publication provides a collection of material useful to planners and managers of parks and protected areas in East Asia. It has been designed to help them think about the influx of tourism to natural protected areas, and to urge them to consciously plan for management of the interactions of tourists and the natural and cultural environment.

La base financiera de la gestión ambiental está intrínsicamente ligada en la actualidad a temas como cambio climático, cooperación internacional, justicia ambiental, distribución equitativa de beneficios que se generan con el uso de la biodiversidad, reconocimiento de valores culturales, y con los fenómenos de globalización.

La Memoria del Primer Conversatorio sobre Ambiente y Desarrollo Urbano, realizado en noviembre de 2007 en Costa Rica, se realizó con el fin de intercambiar experiencias sobre la integración del criterio ambiental y de riesgo dentro de la planificación del desarrollo de las ciudades centroamericanas con miras a alcanzar un desarrollo urbano sostenible y satisfactorio para la población.
