The primary purpose of these guidelines is to assist those actively engaged in snake harvest and trade situations, who are faced with the need to implement monitoring and management. It is written for government wildlife managers, conservationists, professional scientists, and amateurs interested in ensuring the sustainable utilization of wildcaught snakes in commercial trade.

This publication offers nature lovers and visitors to tropical Asia an intriguing insight into the natural history of some of the continent's least known and most threatened species. It also reports on the conservation efforts on the ground that are ongoing to preserve these precious forest landscapes and address the threats of the future. 

Mediante 1012 entrevistas directas dirigidas a adultos se realizó una encuesta en Nicaragua - excluyendo la población de la región Atlántica - sobre tenencia de fauna silvestre. La proporción de hogares con fauna silvestre fue de 22.3%. Los géneros Brotogeris, Aratinga, Amazona, Pionus y Kinosternon / Rhynochlemys fueron los taxa encontrados con mayor frecuencia en los hogares.

This report synthesizes insights and lessons from decades of experience in community wildlife management (CWM), supplementing this with insights from more recent work focused on community-level responses to tackling the current illegal trade in wildlife (ITW) “crisis”.

Each year, approximately 300,000 reticulated pythons (Python reticulatus) are harvested from the wild in Indonesia and Malaysia to supply skins for the international trade in exotic leathers. Concerns have been raised about the sustainability of such a high level of off-take, along with issues related to illegal trade and humane treatment of snakes.

Ce rapport sur les bonnes pratiques d’application des lois en Afrique souhaite contribuer aux efforts internationaux de lutte contre la criminalité liée aux espèces sauvages dans les aires protégées d’Afrique subsaharienne en proposant une étude systématique et fondée sur les faits des pratiques d’application des lois qui se sont avérées efficaces dans différentes situations et en identifiant les bonnes pratiques émergentes.

The Asian elephant is an endangered animal in its global ranges and categorized as ‘Critically Endangered’ in Bangladesh. It is also listed in the third schedule of the Bangladesh Wildlife (Conservation) Act (1974) and also included in the CITES Appendix 1. A current study found 268 resident wild elephants, 93 migratory elephants and 96 captive elephants in Bangladesh. Beside this, the study also produced 44 forest range wise route maps and identified and mapped 12 elephant corridors.
