Les forêts du patrimoine mondial comptent parmi les habitats dont la biodiversité est la plus riche sur Terre. Elles jouent un rôle crucial dans la régulation du climat en absorbant le dioxyde de carbone (CO2) de l’atmosphère. Cependant, ces forêts sont soumises à des pressions croissantes liées aux activités humaines, notamment le changement climatique.

Los bosques del Patrimonio Mundial constituyen algunos de los hábitats más biológicamente diversos de la Tierra y desempeñan un papel crucial en la regulación del clima absorbiendo el dióxido de carbono (CO2) de la atmósfera. Sin embargo, estos bosques sufren cada vez más presiones antropogénicas, entre ellas el cambio climático.

World Heritage glaciers cover almost 10% of the Earth’s glacierized area and play a crucial role in sustaining life on Earth. However, they are retreating at an accelerated rate because of climate change. By combining satellite data and projections at the site level, this study quantifies the extent of World Heritage glaciers’ retreat and its impact on global sea-level rise and provides projections of glacier mass loss.

As the World Heritage Convention celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2022, over 1100 sites around the world are recognized as World Heritage - places  that are so valuable to humanity that there conservation has been deemed our collective responsibility. Yet many of these exceptional places face  increasing pressure from diverse types of development projects within and around the sites.

L’Horizon du patrimoine mondial de l’UICN 3 s’appuie sur les trois cycles des Évaluations des perspectives de conservation réalisées depuis 2014. Il présente les principaux résultats pour 2020, mais aussi certaines tendances à plus long terme, en se basant sur une comparaison des trois ensembles de données aujourd’hui disponibles.

Increasing interest in measuring, modelling and valuing ecosystem services (ES), the benefits that ecosystems provide to people, has resulted in the development of an array of ES assessment tools in recent years. Selecting an appropriate tool for measuring and modelling ES can be challenging.

Tabe’a III addresses the status and trends in the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in the Arab region during the period from 2015 to 2019. This review was conducted in the context of emerging global trends and priorities associated with the World Heritage Convention, as well as other related global natural heritage platforms and programmes.

The World Heritage thematic study for Central Asia has been produced as a contribution to supporting the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in Central Asia. It provides a response to a Decision of the World Heritage Committee in order to identify outstanding areas with potential for future nomination to the World Heritage List with primary focus on criteria (ix) and (x) at the regional scale.

World Heritage forests are some of the most biodiversity-rich habitats on Earth and play a crucial role in climate regulation by absorbing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. However, these forests are under increasing anthropogenic pressures, including climate change.
