The state of national parks in the neotropical realm : a preliminary report prepared for the IUCN
Small farmers produce much of the developing world's food, yet they are generally much poorer than the rest of the population in these countries. This book looks in detail at some 20 farming systems that are judged to have the greatest potential for poverty and hunger reduction and economic growth in the next few decades, and asks the crucial question: What are likely to be the most successful strategies for small farmers in each system, and what sort of initiatives can best help farmers to realize them?

This discussion paper attempts to find out why World Heritage plays a relatively marginal role only in the current nature conservation debate in Latin America and the Caribbean and what can be done to promote a more meaningful role. The underlying assumption is the conviction shared by many colleagues in the region that much of the potential of natural World Heritage remains to be realized.
With only about one-sixth of the original coral cover left, most Caribbean coral reefs may disappear in the next 20 years, primarily due to the loss of grazers in the region, according to this latest report, Status and Trends of Caribbean Coral Reefs: 1970-2012. This is the most detailed and comprehensive study of its kind published to date – the result of the work of 90 experts over the course of three years.
