A comprehensive account of the wildlife trade in Laos, this book is the result of two years' work by the authors, with assistance from two local field researchers and input from a wide range of Lao and foreigners (including Vietnamese, Chinese and Thai informants) with first-hand knowledge of the situation.

Of significant concern to governments in Southeast Asia is the rapid and extensive deforestation and forest degradation that has occurred in the recent past and in some cases is still occurring. The purpose of this publication is to assist stakeholders in the lower Mekong countries develop and implement ecologically and socio-economically sound forest rehabilitation policies and practices.

Compiles recent data and reviews past information to provide annotated species lists of all amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals of Lao People's Democratic Republic. Each species account considers seasonal status, distribution in the country, altitude range, and habitats used. Species of national conservation concern are identified and the account is expanded to a synthesis of recent and historical status information.

The outcome of a workshop to discuss collaborative management in the Asian context, and to review the related legislative framework, strengths, weaknesses and institutional capacity. This book contains full background information on the workshop, and outline of the key conclusions, and recommendations for future action to carry forward the collaborative management agenda in the Asian region as whole
