Ce cahier des connaissances, réalisé dans le cadre du Programme régional d’éducation environnementale du PRCM, décrit l’environnement côtier et marin des pays couverts par le programme (Mauritanie, Cap Vert, Sénégal, Gambie, Guinée-Bissau, Guinée, Sierra Leone). Il est avant tout destiné aux enseignants afin de leur permettre de transmettre à la jeunesse la grande valeur de leur patrimoine commun et la nécessité de le conserver pour les générations futures.

Le Rapport préliminaire sur l'état de l'environnement en Afrique Centrale fait une description des ressources naturelles encore existantes, identifie les opportunités d'utilisation de celles-ci en vue de la lutte contre la pauvreté et le développement durable. En prenant en compte les principaux défis qui sont associés à la réalisation de ces opportunités, il définit des politiques et des mécanismes permettant de les capitaliser.

These 15th Proceedings provide an overview of the ongoing research and management activities on polar bears in the circumpolar Arctic. Together with the previous 14 proceedings, they provide an historic record of the international effort in protecting, studying, and managing polar bears. The document addresses more recent concerns of threats arising as a consequence of increased human activities in both the Arctic and in regions far beyond the Arctic.

Although the rules regarding REDD have not been set, it is already clear that the extent to which an individual country will be able to attract international investment and REDD payments will depend to a considerable extent on its ability to put in place a system that rewards forest managers who are changing their behaviour to reduce deforestation and degradation.

The case-studies are presented in the same format as the 2008 issue and the case-studies are vividly illustrated with color photographs.
