Preparing World Heritage nominations : second edition (Chinese)
   

The manual is based on the version of the "Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention" dated August 2011 and seeks to complement it. In particular, the manual seeks to support States Parties in implementing the World Heritage Convention and to provide guidance and knowledge that will help ensure a credible World Heritage List of well-managed properties of Outstanding Universal Value. it is hoped that the manual will help States Parties to carefully consider the implications of proceeding with World Heritage nominations and take the necessary steps to ensure that the effort is worthwhile for both the conservation of the property and the well-being of local communities and other local stakeholders.

This Resource Manual has a specific purpose: helping to manage natural values within World Heritage properties. As such it is aimed at natural and mixed World Heritage properties as well as cultural landscapes (inscribed under cultural criteria). The intention is to help managers understand and incorporate World Heritage concepts and processes into natural site management. It is hoped that all natural World Heritage managers and staff will find useful guidance here and will be inspired to explore the many resources highlighted. Many of the management principles described will apply to any type of protected area, but here special emphasis is given to those management considerations most relevant to World Heritage status.

“International Workshop on Resource Enhancement and Sustainable Aquaculture Practices in Southeast Asia” was held in Iloilo City from 5 to 7 March 2014. This international workshop aimed to promote and augment regional initiatives on resource enhancement and sustainable aquaculture practices, and to contribute to poverty alleviation, livelihood and food security. A total of 149 participants attended the workshop, composed of aquaculture and resource enhancement experts, scientists, representatives and observers from 11 Member Countries of SEAFDEC. It also featured 42 oral presentations and 15 poster papers. This meeting was organized through the funding support of the Government of Japan.
