La zone côtière de l’Afrique de l’Ouest s’étend sur environ 6 000 km, depuis la Mauritanie au nord, en passant par les côtes  rofondément découpées des îles et des estuaires, puis les côtes lagunaires et les cordons littoraux du Golfe de Guinée, jusqu’au Nigéria. Le petit État insulaire des îles du Cabo Verde, volcanique et  montagneux, complète cette géographie. Ces zones côtières sont caractérisées par une biodiversité d’importance mondiale.

The rapidly increasing human pressure on the biosphere is pushing biodiversity into the sixth mass extinction event in the history of life on Earth. In an effort to align with the EU Code of Conduct for sustainable business and marketing practices, Natural Mineral Waters Europe (NMWE) is collaborating with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to develop a biodiversity strategy and indicator framework. This document provides a recommended approach for NMWE and members to establish their own strategy and indicators for biodiversity.
