State of the Wild is a biennial series that brings together international conservation experts and writers to discuss emerging issues in the conservation of wildlife and wild places. Each volume in the series combines evocative writings with a fascinating tour of conservation news highlights and vital statistics from around the world. One-third of each volume focuses on a topic of particular concern to conservationists.

This book tracks the rise of a powerful idea in global biodiversity conservation. This report aimed at understanding resource use and dependence, perception of marine conservation policies, and adaptive capacities of communities of North Ari atoll, Maldives. It provides information on the social resilience of 8 local community islands in North Ari atoll, and identifies differences in gender role, in resource use and perception of enironmental issues. This study is key in understanding the value of ecosystem services in one atoll in the Maldives.

This book is a compilation of recent developments in the field of ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction and climate change adaption (Eco-DRR/CCA) globally. It provides further evidence that ecosystem-based approaches make economic sense, and showcases how research has progressively filled knowledge gaps about translating this concept into practice.

Le Parc National de l’Ichkeul se situe au Nord-Est de la Tunisie à 75 Km de Tunis. Il occupe 12.600 ha, couvrant successivement la montagne (1.363 ha), le lac Ichkeul (8.500 ha), et les marécages (2.737 ha). Le lac et les marais sont depuis longtemps reconnus comme l’une des principales zones humides du bassin occidental de la Méditerranée. Cette étude vise à évaluer la valeur économique des services écosystémiques rendus par le parc national de l’Ichkeul (PNI).
