Sustainable use

This documentary film is a medium of information and awareness for various stakeholders (policy makers, civil society, populations, technical and financial partners) about the many challenges and opportunities related to large dams in West Africa. These challenges were addressed through four sites in the region: Sélingué in Mali, Bagre in Burkina Faso, Diama in Senegal and Kandadji (planned) in Niger.

Ce film documentaire est un support de sensibilisation et d'information des différents acteurs (décideurs, société civile, populations, partenaires techniques et financiers) sur les multiples enjeux et perspectives liés aux grands barrages en Afrique de l'Ouest. Ces aspects ont été abordés par le biais de quatre sites de la région : Sélingué au Mali, Bagré au Burkina Faso, Diama au Sénégal et Kandadji (en projet) au Niger.

Le Rapport préliminaire sur l'état de l'environnement en Afrique Centrale fait une description des ressources naturelles encore existantes, identifie les opportunités d'utilisation de celles-ci en vue de la lutte contre la pauvreté et le développement durable. En prenant en compte les principaux défis qui sont associés à la réalisation de ces opportunités, il définit des politiques et des mécanismes permettant de les capitaliser.

The aim of this study is to examine the gaps in our understanding of how tourism development affects natural World Heritage Sites in order to support the development of sustainable tourism these sites.

This preliminary study aims to assess the current status of drinking water services in the district. It provides a baseline to guide pilot activities, and to serve as a basis for focused investigations in the future.

Cette publication ambitieuse se concentre sur les leçons apprises pendant dix ans d'approches appliquées de la conservation dans le cadre du Programme régional pour l'environnement en Afrique centrale (CARPE), qui opère dans neuf pays couvrant l'intégralité du Bassin du Congo. Cette publication comprend 27 études de cas de conservation appliquée, ainsi que sept articles généraux faisant la synthèse des résultats des études de cas qui couvrent différents domaines thématiques.

This ambitious publication focuses on lessons learned from ten years of applied conservation approaches of the Central African Regional Program for the Environment (CARPE), which operates in nine countries spanning the entire Congo Basin. This publication contains 27 case studies of applied conservation as well as seven overview articles synthesizing the results of the case studies, which cover different thematic areas.
