This publication contains references to existing guidelines on sustainable tourism as well as many other useful materials on developing and managing sustainable tourism. It is relevant to wetland site managers, tourism and wetland policy-makers and planners, and the private sector (including those investing in, operating or developing tourism in wetlands).
In 2014, IUCN carried out a vulnerability assessment of the impacts of climate change on the Ramsar site at Beung Kiat Ngong in southern Lao PDR. The overall description of the wetland ecosystem and its components were drawn from the Ramsar profiles of the wetland and the recent biodiversity surveys.

Sweden has the highest variation in wetland types within the EU, and after Russia, it has the largest wetland area in Europe. The Swedish Wetland Survey (VMI), which covered all large wetland sites except the ones in the alpine zone, took place between 1981 and 2004.
