Climate change

The practices listed in this catalogue are selected on the basis of their potential capacity to mitigate the foreseeable negative effects of climate change, particularly recurrent droughts, floods, strong winds/sand storms and high temperatures.

Bangladesh is the innocent victim of climate change due to its low riparian flat coastal landscape and high population density with poor financial capacity to respond to the adverse impact of climate change. Natural hazards like floods, droughts, cyclones and sea level rise are increasing day by day that will push poorer section of the population to the very margin of survival.

It is now unequivocally established that climate change is a reality, and the adversities of climatic transformations pose one of the greatest challenges facing humanity today. The publication on "Protocol for Monitoring of Impacts of Climate Change and Climate Variability in Bangladesh" is a modest yet pioneering attempt to proffer a systemic methodology to quantify and record the impacts of climate change across selected key sectors.

Climate change and the over exploitation of water resources is challenging the sustainability of the Pangani River Basin to deliver water services. Competition for diminishing water resources has led to tensions between the various stakeholders within the basin. Together with the government of Tanzania and donor partners, WANI has responded to this crisis by supporting the implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).

This document is a summary of the technical report on the current state of affairs in the Mediterranean basin. It describes the specific characteristics of the Mediterranean Sea and the phenemenon of climate change observed on the scale of this particular region. It then presents five species of Magnoliophyta documented in its waters.

Este documento es un resumen del informe técnico sobre esta temática en la cuenca mediterránea. Describe las especificidades del mar Mediterráneo y el fenómeno del cambio climático observado a escala de esta región. Presenta igualmente las características de las cinco especies de Magnoliofitas presentes en sus aguas.

Sobre la cuenca del río Santa se han realizado numerosos foros y se han emitarget_ido diversas declaraciones,1 orientados a promover el mejoramiento de su gestión. El Foro Agua Santa 2011 reconoce todas las iniciativas realizadas sobre gestión ambiental y del recurso hídrico en la cuenca, pero asume que se requieren aún más y mayores esfuerzos.

Se trata del primer documento en español sobre el enfoque de Adaptación basada en Ecosistemas, que UICN promueve a escala mundial. Se fundamenta en una revisión de literatura especializada y dirigida a técnicos y profesionales que trabajan en actividades relacionadas con la adaptación al cambio climático.
