Le présent rapport, basé sur 21 études de cas provenant de 17 pays de quatre continents, décrit la manière dont les pasteurs sont parvenus à défendre/faire valoir leurs droits fonciers. La question initiale était de savoir quels facteurs contribuent à consolider les droits des pasteurs sur la terre foncière et les ressources.

This report, based on 21 case-studies, from 17 countries in four continents, describes how pastoralists successfully defended/asserted their land rights. The question at the outset was what elements contribute to the success of pastoralists’ securing land rights and resources.

This Manual presents a framework, includes technical material for raising awareness, and provides basic education on governance in the context of natural resources, and is designed to target a wide audience.

The Livelihoods and Landscapes Strategy (LLS) was a five-year program implemented by IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) and funded by DGIS (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands). The Strategy focused on four main themes: poverty reduction, natural resource-based markets and incentives, forest governance, and landscape transformation. LLS, originally set to finish in December 2010, was granted a no-cost extension and came to a close in December 2011.

The IUCN Species Survival Commission and IUCN Asia Regional Office commissioned this independent report to assess the state and condition of intertarget_idal habitats along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway (EAAF), in response to growing concerns expressed by IUCN members over observed declines in biodiversity, the loss of ecological services, and an increase in ecological disasters.
