The Amboseli Elephants is the long-awaited summation of what’s been learned from the Amboseli Elephant Research Project (AERP)—the longest continuously running elephant research project in the world. Dugongs - respect and protect
   

Dugongs have high cultural value and are a valued source of food, medicine and artifacts and thus are an important species for coastal people. Dugongs also play a significant ecological role in maintaining coastal habitats. This publication will give an overview of the six dugong range states in the Pacific region and the measures they have in place to conserve and protect these pristine “ladies of the sea.” It will also highlight some of the events that have taken place since the Pacific Year of the Dugong was launched.

Des plages de ponte de tortues marines du monde entier ont fait l’objet d’un suivi depuis des décennies. Si les protocoles de suivi appliquent parfois des normes nationales ou régionales, il n’existe pas de standard mondial unique. Le Conseil scientifique de SWOT (2011) a reconnu qu’il fallait établir des normes minimales pour la base de données SWOT en ciblant trois objectifs principaux : (1) fixer un seuil minimal de qualité des données pour orienter les méthodes d’inventaire sur le terrain des projets fournissant des données à SWOT ; (2) faciliter la comparaison de l’abondance de ponte entre les sites et (3) renforcer le rôle de SWOT comme centre d’informations sur les tortues marines. Ce manuel guide le processus de développement et de production de normes minimales en matière de données pour deux types de public : les projets existants et les nouveaux projets de suivi de la ponte des tortues marines.
